These are the best sneakers I’ve ever worn

I wasn’t actually planning on buying them. I was going to let them slip through my fingers, as so many pairs of shoes have before. When we got to Japan, however, and I saw the Onitsuka Tiger store, I knew this would be on my list of missions to complete before we left for home.

I had seen the iconic sneakers on models and influencers before, of course, and I loved them. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Deluxe are a vibrant, perfect yellow with black “tiger” stripes criss-crossing on the sides. Made of leather and embroidered with the words “Onitsuka Tiger” in Japanese Katakana characters, they are a statement sneaker.

Another important aspect of these sneakers is that they play a trick on your eye. They appear completely flat, however, include a plush insole that molds to the arch of your foot, ensuring a comfortable fit. You can walk for miles in them and feel amazing.

I bought these sneakers in Japan and have since decided that another pair is worth the investment. Every time I wear them I get compliments. They seem to work with every outfit, adding the dash of streetwear-sophistication that an otherwise boring ensemble needs.

They are not cheap. But they are truly the best sneakers I’ve ever purchased and if you’re going to make the leap, I would encourage you to do so.
