These are the basics that ARE NOT $1 million and that I actually use and wear (yes, some are Amazon)

I’ve seen more than my fair share of influencer videos hawking the best “basics” out there. Plain white tees, pointelle, neutrals galore. Now, I love a basic because I believe that the right simple garments tie an outfit together and allow for a standout piece to really shine. I also believe in investing in certain pieces for quality and ethical reasons. One of my favorite companies, LESET, makes gorgeous clothes that are simple, elegant, and high-quality. They are worth the price per garment in my mind, especially since I don’t buy from them too often.

However, I have seen other brands jack up their pricing in the name of quality, while maintaining the same standards I’ve felt from much cheaper brands. They sell “the best white t-shirt you could ever want” for over $100 and when I test it out I find its no different from what could be the exact same t-shirt, just $70 more expensive.

In an effort to make life, and getting dressed (which is basically my life), easier on myself, I compiled this list of every company and product “basic” that I believe it worth its salt. Some are slightly pricier, all are worth it. You’re welcome.

  1. Skims. Tried and true. Skims does basics better than probably any other company. I’ve worn Skims since Kim got in trouble for the company’s original name and have never looked back. Good pricing. Great products. Highlighting their Cotton Collection here since this is what I buy most often.

  2. Uniqlo. With a wider assortment of the most modular and simple clothing you could ask for, and even more competitive pricing, when I need basics in a rush I rush to Uniqlo (sorry).

  3. Hanes. I wear Hanes almost every day, from working out to marinating in my face mask.

  4. Artfish. Who makes this brand? I found them on Amazon and have their Ribbed Tank Top in multiple colors. I love it so much I bought the same one for my mom and sister.

  5. LESET. The bougiest one on the list, however, I have had their signature Pointelle Tank for years and still wear it at least once a week.
