Mill
If you watch New Girl, and you resonated with the scene where we discover that Schmidt puts his coffee grounds in a plastic so it doesn’t get his trash dirty, then you and I are the same. I hate “dirty trash”. I hate when the trash bin smells and you have to wipe around the gross inside plastic part. It makes me literally nauseous.
That’s why I am obsessed with Mill. Because at Mill, they know that smelly trash is a terrible thing to have in your home, but they also know that America has a problem with food and trash waste.
Let’s get down to what they do. Mill is a membership system that aims to keep food waste out of landfills. The product itself is the Mill kitchen bin, which collects, dries, shrinks, de-stinks, and stores food scraps for weeks without having to replace any trash bags. After your bin is full, just empty it into your pre-paid return box and send the Food Grounds back to the company (shipping is included in the membership!). The Food Grounds you send back will be used for their full potential as food for chickens and not dumped in a landfill. Delivered back to nature as part of the natural cycle.
Obviously, I am paraphrasing as best I can here since this idea is so awesome.
So what else is included in the membership? According to Mill’s website, you get the following:
1. Impact tracking and app
2. Charcoal odor filter replacements
3. Dedicated member support
4. Membership warranty
5. The option to send Food Grounds via pre-paid shipping (once a month for most members)
It should be noted that currently, Mill only offers the kitchen bin as part of the full membership at either $33 per month ($396 billed annually with free bin delivery) or $45 per month (billed monthly, plus $75 bin delivery fee).
Check Mill out and save your spot! They’re doing really cool stuff, PLUS, please don’t be like Schmidt and waste plastic (or not plastic!)
